SS-INTROSPECT #3 : GIVE TO LIVE
TAXES.....CAR INSURANCE.....RENT......STUDENT LOANS..… whether we pay it immediately, in 30 days, or over the course of a lifetime, debt weighs on us. Heavy it sinks into our shoulders like a barbell as we step away from the rack. But what good is such a weight without the benefit of feeling empowered by strength afterward? We will constantly walk away feeling drained and unable to apply pressure to the priceless things in our lives. Our families, our bodies, our hobbies, even our passions fall to the back burner. We sit back at work and think, “I'm supposed to be running on the beach, feeling the sand between my toes. The warmth of the sun is supposed to graze across my face, as I hold my loved one during its descent.” “I'm supposed to finish writing that song or typing that romance novel.” “What is the balance I'm missing? Why do I feel like life is taking everything from me and I'm getting nothing in return?”
The first step, the only step is to GIVE. How often are we giving as much as we expect to receive? Are we giving a seed like the farmer who is planting his crops? Are we giving ourselves a chance to allow the abundance of energy inside, to flow out into tangible form? Most of us are confusing paying debts with giving. We pay the taxes, but the items were already on the shelves & the job was already hiring. We pay the car insurance but the programs were already available before we picked up the phone. The leasing office would have never charged us a dime if the space had not already been made vacant and move-in ready. These are debts, things that we owe to a man who has already taken a risk and built his dream. He has already GAVE himself a chance to be great. So great that he has the resources to now give us a chance to contribute to his greatness.
So when we look for balance, it all starts with giving. We must open space in our life and GIVE ourselves a chance to find that balance. That balance doesn't come if we continue to hold onto fear and only move in spaces that are already built. We will constantly find ourselves only playing catch up and paying debts to those who did not fear giving grace to themselves. That fearless grace provides them the time and resources for the things that gave them balance. It would have never came from strictly paying debts. We can look at those before us and see that is a failed plan. We must now change our perspective. We must take a different route and focus on giving instead of paying debt. We must also have the faith to remain consistent and see this plan through into succession.
-A mind focused on paying debts will forever be indebted.
-Creating something out of nothing starts with GIVING yourself a chance.
Give space to balance the imbalance.
